Artist's Comments

Another sculpture recently finished for class. This one is also life sized (16 x 9 x 12 inches) and is made from carved polystyrene, epoxy putty, polymer clay, and glass eyes. It was left uncovered to show the materials and construction of the piece. I realize that these are more raw and unfinished looking than my fur covered creatures. They're intended to be that way and I almost like them more.

Like the rabbit woman [link] , this piece was also intended to hint at animal rights issues by combining species. It combines them in a way that encourages the viewer to take note of their similarities and differences. How we treat one species can be compared to how we treat the other.

Wow, that really threw me off, I didn't even really realize the bottom half was a human body until I saw the feet.

both are very interesting. I really like the female form in the rabit woman one. I'm amazed at the making. I, personally, rather enjoy seeing the underlying materials.

This one though... creeps me out. maybe because it looks angry... maybe because I caught this piece of a video or movie or something where there's this cat in a well, and it starts off with human hands, and it eats people and gains bits of them, and becomes a human. Creepy as heck.

Heh, yeah, this one is kinda creepy. I'm working on one now that's a little dog with chicken wings rather than front legs, and it's also kinda creepy.
