I swear, my sculpture work really isn’t as crappy as my photos are. If it’s hard to make out the details, try turning up the brightness and contrast on your monitor. I’m a bad enough photographer as it is without trying to get detailed pictures of something that’s all black colored. XD
Newer, better photos of this piece can be found here: [link] Finally finished this little guy. Progress pics can be seen here [link] and here [link] (you can actually see the wing better in these). He comes out from the wall at an angle, showing his head, neck, partial shoulders, and one wing. Due to the unusual angle it’s really difficult to get a good impression of the piece through photos, so use your imagination. He’s 15 inches long from nose to wingtip and comes out from the wall about 6 inches. The wing is made up of feathers on a cardboard frame. It was done with a bag of random craft feathers rather than working from feathers from an actual wing, so it was a bit tricky to make look realistic. I’m very happy with how it came out, even though the feathers got busted up while I was working on the rest of the piece. I used some fluffy feathers on the transition from wing to body. The body is a styrofoam base with a sculpted epoxy putty surface and black nylon flocking. The glass eyes were the only pre-made parts. I originally tried fur on the body, but since this piece is so small, the fur just made it look bulky even when shaved down. So I tried the flocking instead. It didn’t come out quite as realistic as I would have liked, but is pretty cute regardless. |

No somos vampiros, ni espectros melancólicos errando por castillos olvidados ni elfos de la noche. Tampoco ninguna de las tantas criaturas de la imaginación humana que transitan la tragedia de la vida con el dolor de lo evidente e inexorable de ella
Cant wait to see more like this guy~!

WHERE WE FEEL SAFE
I swear you have so much talent!
How did you make the wing? Did you just glue the feathers on?
